Helios Sun Shirt
Helios Sun Shirt
The Helios is all about sun protection and is subsequently UPF 50. This innovative product manages to be almost weightless (it packs extremely small, perfect for bikepacking) with exceptional ventilation, yet offers comprehensive protection thanks to its long sleeves and integrated hood.
The Helios Sun Shirt strikes a balance between being baggy enough to trap some cool air, and form-fitting enough to feel modern and high-tech.
The breathable panels on the underside of the arm you can really feel. When you're on the trail you can feel the air flowing through your jersey which is awesome, that was one of my big compliants about other sun shirts I've used.
The Helos Sun Shirt is a really nice option for people spending a lot of time in very hot, very exposed areas, and the roomy fit helps it trap a bit of cooler air around the body. It’s about as comfortable as you can hope for when the temperature is high and the sun is beating down, and well worth a look if that’s a frequent use case for you.
The Helios is really interesting piece with two distinct fabrics a 50 UPF sleeve and super lightweight body where if you hold it up to the light you can see pin pricks of light coming through and a quarter zip front for venting.
The Helios Sun Shirt has to be one of the most versatile shirts we have tested in recent years. From cycling to fishing, hiking, and so much more the Helios can be your companion on all of your summer adventures. The fabric of the Helios is the most unique we’ve ever seen on a sun shirt with the body of the shirt featuring tiny perforation to keep the air flowing through the shirt and keeping you cool.
…cool in temperature only, of course.
Seriously, I already own four of these and they are my go to mountain bike jerseys any time it’s sunny, which is almost every day I ride in Park city.
1. I only have to put sunscreen on my face and my legs from my socks to my shorts.
2. Until you have worn one of these, you cannot imagine that you are actually going to stay cooler with it on then you would with bare arms. Really.
3. Even though I suspect it makes me look like some crazy old man in the desert, I love wearing the hood under my helmet for maximum sun protection. Oh well, being a crazy old man is better than skin cancer, right?
I'm a big fan of sun protective hoodies, and this one checks all the boxes. Light weight and breathable, sizing is spot on, and itblooks good. I have three so I'm never without.
Fantastic layer for many activities, I wear it daily for MTB, hiking and just being outside in the sun to protect me
