The Helios is all about sun protection and is subsequently UPF 50. This innovative product manages to be almost weightless (it packs extremely small, perfect for bikepacking) with exceptional ventilation, yet offers comprehensive protection thanks to its long sleeves and integrated hood.
The Helios Sun Shirt strikes a balance between being baggy enough to trap some cool air, and form-fitting enough to feel modern and high-tech.
The breathable panels on the underside of the arm you can really feel. When you're on the trail you can feel the air flowing through your jersey which is awesome, that was one of my big compliants about other sun shirts I've used.
The Helos Sun Shirt is a really nice option for people spending a lot of time in very hot, very exposed areas, and the roomy fit helps it trap a bit of cooler air around the body. It’s about as comfortable as you can hope for when the temperature is high and the sun is beating down, and well worth a look if that’s a frequent use case for you.
The Helios is really interesting piece with two distinct fabrics a 50 UPF sleeve and super lightweight body where if you hold it up to the light you can see pin pricks of light coming through and a quarter zip front for venting.
The Helios Sun Shirt has to be one of the most versatile shirts we have tested in recent years. From cycling to fishing, hiking, and so much more the Helios can be your companion on all of your summer adventures. The fabric of the Helios is the most unique we’ve ever seen on a sun shirt with the body of the shirt featuring tiny perforation to keep the air flowing through the shirt and keeping you cool.
Another great apparel from Club Ride. Fabric feels great on your skin. It wicks sweat well and does a good job as a wind breaker too.
For the 15 years I have lived in Arizona I've been searching for great hot weather gear. Riding in the desert sun among the cacti can not only be uncomfortable, but dangerous (think, "getting lost on a trail and running out of water."). Having good, cooling gear is crucial. I was definitely doubtful when I saw the helios sun shirt - "long sleeve? what's with the weird hood?" were my thoughts. I eventually picked one up though. I just tried it out today - started the ride at 90 degrees and sunny and finished at 95. This shirt was EVERYTHING I HAVE BEEN LOOKING FOR! It's like they captured a cool Sun Valley breeze and sewed it into the fabric. It kept the sun off, provided cooling both when wet or dry. It was comfortable and light. So happy! one drawback, not pleased with the colors. The grey is good, but those others...oof. Can we get some non-1990's earth tone schemes in there? Great, great shirt for hot weather riding!
Light and comfortable and fits to size. A nice jacket for cooler weather or for sun protection on long sunny rides. I bought three in different colors.
soooo i love this color that launched ! and its my 3rd helios. not because anything at all is wrong with my first 2 but because i find these to be some of the best sun shirts i have ever worn. light but not fragile like some of the knit running and fishing versions i have owned that get runs and stains easily. i can use these as a make shift light windish shirt in the summer as a layer with a jersey under it , super versatile runs true to size . love them !
This shirt was perfect for a desert bikepacking trip in NV. It was the only top i wore for over 270miles + one jump in a lake.
the hood worked over my helmet to keep sun off (even if it had to be pulled back up when it blew off)
I bought a second one when I got home!
