Cycling Holiday Gift Guide 2016: 5 Great Bikes Larry Olmsted , CONTRIBUTOR I travel to learn, eat, golf and ski, but mostly for travel’s sake Opinions expressed by Forbes Contributors are their own. As part of my annual series of Holiday Gift Guides, I tackle one of my favorite sports, cycling. But in addition to gear picks that make great gifts for cyclists on your list, I’ve included a round-up of five of my favorite bikes just in case you decide it is time for a gift for yourself. Check out my other themed gift guides for Golfers and Skiing & Snowboarding. Also check out last year’s cycling gift guide as many things are still worth considering. Club Ride makes non-traditional men’s and women’s bike clothing that looks great but still offers high performance. Club Ride Apparel: In a world where bike clothes look increasingly the same, and most brands are indistinguishable to the eye, Club Ride takes a different, and I think much cooler approach. They make performance bike wear that doesn’t look like bike wear, and a lot of it has a Western influence and cowboy feel, complete with pearl snaps and yokes, and I love them – I have several. The Sun Valley, Idaho-based company gets pizzazz and while its clothes are aimed at urban commuters and those riding their bikes someplace more than just riding, I’ve worn their western jerseys for full day century charity rides, and they hide real cycling features like wicking materials, mesh vents and rear zippered pockets. Club Ride is a full-service bike clothing manufacturer and makes stuff for men and women, not just jerseys but shorts, bibs, underwear, tees, jackets and more, with lots of henleys and other non-traditional styles. For anyone on your list, male or female, who likes to ride a bike, you can probably find something cool from Club Ride, and the prices are comparable to other top cycling brands – but a lot more fun. The pictured jersey is a model I have.
