Subscribe The Quick Drop Bib Baselayer by Club Ride gives you the comfort of bibs with the convenience of shorts, featuring a “flapjack” back (think old-school onesie pajamas) for us ladies. Instead of buttons, the flap consists of two low-profile zippers running from the lower back area down the legs to spare you the inconvenience of completely undressing to access your bib straps when nature calls. Privacy Policy | About Us The cut is really flattering and hugs all the right spots; it is also very comfortable. The hips and outer legs are made of a stretchy, breathable compression mesh, with the rest made up of antimicrobial stretch lycra. While they're intended to be worn as a baselayer (read: under your baggies), you can wear them alone if you're not bothered by a little see-through action on the outsides of the legs. Sure, the purpose of the mesh is for breathability, but I still felt like Madonna in the 80s when I first wore them. The chamois is an 8mm dual-density pad with gel inserts, which makes for a less bulky but equally comfortable ride, compared to some thicker fabric versions. The gel actually feels like it molds to you as you sit in the saddle, and has never given me a sore bum. I have had many nature breaks in the QuickDrop bibs, and I've found it's just as easy as wearing plain old chamois shorts—and infinitely easier than no-zip bibs, which require undressing. They do, however, take some practice to figure out, and I have actually gotten it wrong a few times. The flap zips up over an extension of the bib (since they don't close at the top, the overlap gives you ample, flexible coverage), but I have mistakenly put the mesh back piece around my waist. It's also important to remember to hold the flap out of the way when using it. RELATED: Pee-Break-Friendly Bib Shorts for Women I've found it works best to unzip completely before I put the bib on, then zip up the legs so I'm sure that the flap goes over the mesh back piece. The zippers run high enough up the torso that they stay zipped, but I would like to see an extra snap closure of some sort for added security. I have had an accidental unzip, but it was when I didn't make sure to zip the zipper all the way to the top, which made it slide down over the curve of my hip. Just be sure to choose the right size bibs, and zip all the way up. I have washed the QuickDrop bibs 50-plus times in both top- and front-loader washing machines using various wash and water settings. I am a bit lazy, but I do hang-dry each time, and I have experienced no pilling or compromises. As the old saying goes for cycling—“It doesn’t get easier, you just get faster,” you could say, “they don’t get less awkward, they just get more useful” of the cycling bib. The Quick Drop Bibs by Club Ride are weird, because they are, well, bibs. But they are also cute, very comfortable, and beyond useful. The bibs only come in one color, Raven, which is bluish/black with purplish/blue seams. You can read the full review here.
