Great fit and great material. These are a little more heavy material than what I normally ride, but they're super comfortable, not too hot, and don't bunch up. They also transition well to a post-ride beer or the throw on just stomping around town. I'm 5'10" 153lbs, and went with a SM and the waist fits perfect with the legs a smidge tighter than I'd like... but overall the fit is great with a pair of bibs and I wouldn't feel concerned rolling them on a multi-hour big-ish ride. Good stuff.
Just got my shorts in the mail today and went for a 3 hour ride on my Tern 20" bike. These shorts are amazing, super comfortable and the stretch is perfect. But by far the best thing is the higher back and perfect length inseam, not too long and not too short, just right. I'll be buying another pair soon.
I've worn a lot of different brands of mountain biking shorts over many years of riding, but the Joe Dirt shorts are by far the most comfortable shorts I've ever worn on the trails. Super stretchy and adjustable. An added bonus is that you can roll into the micro-brewery after shredding all day in style. In fact, I like them so much I just ordered another pair!
Just ordered a second pair so I can finally take these things off and wash them. Favorite item in my closet for the summer. These things have enough stretch for any activity and look great while being lazy, too. I’m 6’ 2” 220 lbs and ordered the XL. The shorts stay on my hips but sag a bit - I ordered a LG for my second. I wear with light belt and it is perfect. This does not take away from sizing or the review. Just guidance on selecting a size for those who may be similar build. I do have athletic thighs and the XL isn’t tight or snug, they just feel fitted and right. Anyways, if you don’t want to look like a store-bought-sponsored-MTB-dad-with-full-time-job-and-kids-weekend warrior, get these. Or if you do, get these. It’s the belly that gives me away. #dadbodforlife
Really like the shorts, like that they feel like cotton, but breath and stretch like a technical fabric. I would not wear them for a mountain bike ride, but for commuting or riding around towing kids behind me it is perfect.
