Midweight Stretch Mini-Cord Fabric
98% Cotton / 2% Spandex
The material looks like a heavy woven, but they, too, are surprisingly light. If you don’t like the feel of synthetics or nylon, these are 98% cotton with 2% spandex for stretch.
I’ve spent the last month in my Joe Dirts, working at my desk, walking, riding my bike, relaxing with family, and I love them. They are made to last and are much better quality than my old alternatives. Whilst they are super comfy and non-restrictive when active, the material is heavier than my other biking shorts, and that does make them a little warmer.
Ryan Palmer’s Editor Pick
The Joe Dirt shorts buck the bike trend a bit featuring more of a casual/workwear type of design that you’d pick for a day of hanging out before a big day in the saddle. That being said, the 4- Way stretch and gusseted crotch mean that the Joe Dirt is still at home on the bike. The buttoned phone pocket keeps your phone out of the way while pedaling yet secure enough to not worry about it falling out when you are taking the spicy route to the office or your next brewery stop.

I was skeptical about purchasing these as my legs are rather large from squatting often and I find it difficult to get comfortable shorts and pants. The stretchy-ness to these are perfect and I have to admit I didn't even notice they were there when I first went for a ride. They don't rub weird or hike up, nor do they get caught on my seat or anything. My only minor remark is that the length is an inch or so longer than I preferred however I can just fold them up one fold and everything works out- they don't look silly or anything.
I am and always have been very picky when it comes to clothing, especially shorts. Being built more athletically I've always struggled to find a good fit for my tree trunks for legs. I was a bit skeptical when I bought two pairs, but was hopeful. Even upon trying these on for the first time as they felt tighter than I would have liked. I was about to throw in the towel and return 'yet another pair of shorts' when after just a few hours of walking around in them they wore in.
And now...I'm buying two more pairs because they legitimately are the most comfortable, all-around useful pair of shorts I've owned. Since I bought them two weeks ago I haven't worn another pair yet, alternating between the two I have. They are absolutely perfect for those who commute to work on two wheels who also want to be comfortable not wearing pants during the warmer months but also want to not look like a hobo that just came sauntering out of the woods.
- they fit great even for the athletically built
- they stretch to accommodate lots of movement
- they breathe well
- they look great for work and for play
- oh and the adjustable waist is fantastic
Great short! Fit a bit snug around the thighs. If you hate skinny or slim fit jeans, maybe stay away. I’ve done 60 mile rides in them with no issues. And I wear them as regular beer drinking shorts. 10/10 for me.
My favorite pair of riding shorts were reaching the end of their life, so I was on the hunt for a replacement. I found them! I put them on and wore them five days straight. Stoked on the chosen size for a more fitted piece and less bulk. I'm looking forward to buying more!
These have become my daily wear shorts for riding, hiking, shopping, and even teaching my classes. My first pair got a strange fade on the thighs that my wife and I couldn't attribute to washing or anything but the other pairs I have do not have that issue. I think they may be reactive to sunscreen a bit and that could be the issue there.
Fit is stunning - and I'm not a tiny dude. At 6', 225 - I wear a XXL but could probably get away with the XL. They sit well on the waist, do not require a belt - and I have put in some serious miles in them without any overheating issues.
Like all things that Club Ride makes, these seem to fit the bill for commuting, riding, or just living. Excellent buy.
