I just returned from mountain biking The Baja Divide. I wore these shorts every day while riding. Underneath I wear a Shredly YogaCham liner or underwear with gusset seems (men’s size extra small). They never ride up your crotch. These shorts rock! They dry super fast and don’t seem to ever get dirty. I love not having a zipper.
These are my go-to shorts when I ride, and when all I'm doing is knocking around town. The pockets are plenty, and I really like that there's no zipper - just buttons and a drawstring! - to keep me from losing my drawers. I wear them all the time, and I haven't destroyed them yet.
These shorts are really nice, but if you are debating between these & the Ventura Plaid, I'd go for the latter. The savvy short doesn't have a zipper. It does have a drawstring which helps with the fit. It's still an awesome short, but I just like the Ventura Plaid better. Similar cut to Ventura Plaid, but a rounded touch at the knee.
The shorts are great except for the width in the thighs. I keep getting the short caught on my seat because there just to much material in that area.
I am 5'7" and 120 lbs. I ordered a size small and they were too big. I ended up sending them back.
